Welcome to literatis.co.uk. This website is based (very) loosely on the life, times and works of Samuel Johnson - Doctor Johnson of English Dictionary fame. The site will be updated regularly with issues of The Rambler, transcribed from a set of volumes whose front page appears below.
For interest, some definitions from Johnson's Dictionary have been added to the Comments column of Rambler 1. I'll finish adding those eventually and, if they generate any interest, I'll do the same for Rambler 2. There's no particular reason for a word's inclusion or exclusion.
I still have to add links to some of the concordance software websites I mentioned on the Analyze Rambler Text link introductory page.
